I had a new feathered friend at the feeder today…I assumed it was a woodpecker, but most of the ones that frequent my feeders are the small downy woodpeckers.  After looking in my Nebraska bird book I am guessing this is a Northern Flicker (although the book says it does not come to feeders).  Does any one know for sure what type of bird this is (calling on Val and John…)?  It is a beauty, whatever it is…

  1. Lovely shot! These birds are so noticeable on the feeder because of their size! Before moving into the city I used to have a few that were daily visitors to the feeders.
